Auf der Anklagebank sitzen seit Mittwoch Schweißer Mahmut E. (48) und der arbeitslose Mehmet V. (43). Die beiden Männer sollen die bayerischen Statthalter der verbotenen islamistischen Organisation „Kalifatsstaat“ gewesen sein. Sie sollen sogar direkten Kontakt zum „Kalifen von Köln“, Metin Kaplan (71), gehabt haben. Den beiden Männern wird der Verstoß gegen das Vereinigungsverbot vorgeworfen.

Der sogenannte „Kalifatsstaat“ wurde 2001 als verfassungsfeindliche, islamistische Organisation eingestuft und bundesweit verboten. Ihr Anführer ist der Fundamentalist Kaplan, der selbsternannte „Kalif von Köln“. Er verstand sich als weltlicher und geistlicher Anführer aller Muslime, als „Emir der Gläubigen“. Ziel der Organisation ist die Errichtung eines islamischen Staatswesens.
„Kalif von Köln“ rief „Todes-Fatwa“ gegen politischen Gegner aus
Kaplan galt Ende der 90er-Jahre als einflussreichster islamischer Fundamentalist Deutschlands. Er rief u.a. zum „allgemeinen Glaubenskampf“ auf. Zudem forderte er 1996 auch die Ermordung seines politischen Gegners, des Berliner Kalifen Halil Ibrahim Sofu, mit einer sogenannten „Todes-Fatwa“ auf. Sofu wurde ein Jahr später von Unbekannten getötet. Im Jahr 2000 wurde Kaplan zu vier Jahren Haft verurteilt, anschließend in die Türkei abgeschoben. Dort musste er wegen Hochverrats 2005 ins Gefängnis. Wegen einer Krebserkrankung wurde seine lebenslange Freiheitsstrafe 2016 vorzeitig ausgesetzt.
► Sein „Kalifatsstaat“ lebte im Untergrund weiter, war offenbar in Deutschland in Regionalverbände aufgeteilt. Die Angeklagten Mahmut E. und Mehmet V. galten als Verantwortliche für Bayern, sollen laut Anklage vorwiegend aus Aschaffenburg operiert haben. Mahmut E. hatte direkten Kontakt zum „Kalifen von Köln“, trotz des Verbots der Organisation wurden im Untergrund weiter Treffen durchgeführt.

E. soll als sogenannter Vorbeter tätig gewesen sein, er sammelte Mitgliedsbeiträge ein. Mehmet V. leitete auch in einer Moschee in Bad Kreuznach (Rheinland-Pfalz) laut Staatsanwaltschaft ein Koran-Seminar für die Kinder der führenden Köpfe der deutschen Teilgebiete des „Kalifatsstaats“.
Im Prozess legten die Angeklagten ein Geständnis ab, verständigten sich mit dem Gericht. Sie hätten sich inzwischen vom „Kalifatsstaat“ abgewandt. Beide wurden von der Staatsschutzkammer des Landgerichts zu 9 Monaten Freiheitsstrafe auf Bewährung verurteilt. Die Bewährungszeit wurde auf drei Jahre festgesetzt. Vorsitzender Richter Norbert Riedmann: „Wenn Sie in dieser Zeit Straftaten, vor allem einschlägige, begehen, kommen Sie ins Gefängnis!“
